“No one can understand the pain I am going through... this
is the worst day of my life," said the hapless Dane. Arsenal fans know
how he feels...
Nicklas Bendtner could be sent back to Arsenal by Juventus following his drink drive shame in Denmark.
The Gunners striker, on loan at the Italian giants, has been fined £97,000 and had his driving licence banned for three years after admitting to the offence.
Now he must wait to find out whether Juve will punish him even further by sending him back to the Emirates where he will find himself in limbo as he is surplus to requirements.
Bendtner was stopped by police after driving against the traffic in downtown Copenhagen late on Saturday.
He admitted to having been three times over the legal alcohol limit in Denmark.
Speaking after the hearing on Tuesday afternoon he admitted to suffering: “the worst day of my life”.
He added: “I take full responsibility for what I did. I know that it is very serious.
“I am aware of that. Now it’s time for me to move on.
“No one can understand the pain I am going through right now. I can assure you that this is the worst day of my life.
“I will do everything possible to get back to doing what I love. Everyone makes mistakes in their lives.”
So far Bendtner, 25, has made just nine appearances this season under Juventus boss Antonio Conte.
Six of those have come from the bench. None have produced a goal.
Conte is set to resolve the Bendtner situation after the second leg of the Serie A leaders’ Champions League knockout tie against Celtic. Juve lead 3-0 from the first leg.
Conte said: “We don’t know for sure what has happened. Sometimes one drink is too much to put you over the top.
“It is always very hard to judge situation that happened so far away from Italy. The club will investigate.”
“It was quite a night. But I am very sorry to all of my friends and fans. It is not okay to drink and drive. I take full responsibility.”
Bendtner has already been ordered by the Danish FA to take six months off from national team duty to reflect on his behaviour.

A mild case of drink driving...
