Arsenal near deal for £24m striker after terms agreed

Arsenal transfer news: Stevan Jovetic nearing Gunners switch

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to bring Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic to the Emirates Stadium, and could make the Montenegro international their first signing of the imminent summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Express, the Gunners have already agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old, and are now waiting for Fiorentina to accept their offer of £24 million in order for a deal to be completed.
Arsene Wenger is reported to be keen to bolster his goalscoring ranks before the transfer deadline in August, and Jovetic would appear to be the player identified to provide Arsenal with an additional goalscoring edge.
Arsenal moved to clinch the signatures of Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski following the departure of Robin van Persie last summer, but have yet to sufficiently compensate for the exit of their captain.
Jovetic, meanwhile, has found the net 12 times in 26 league appearances for Fiorentina this season, and the Montenegrin seems likely to provide competition alongside Giroud, Podolski and Theo Walcott next term.
Should Jovetic complete a transfer to Arsenal then Fiorentina will reportedly look to recruit Fernando Torres from Chelsea in order to plug the gap created by his exit.
Torres faces an uncertain future at Chelsea with Radamel Falcao apparently set to arrive at Stamford Bridge, and Fiorentina could offer the 29-year-old a route out of west London.
