The 34-year-old midfielder met a new
milestone for the club he has served for 12 years, as he scored a
well-placed header against West Ham in the 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge
Frank Lampard said he was pleased to score a "special" 200th goal for Chelsea in their 2-0 win over West Ham.The 34-year-old found the net against his former club in the 19th minute to send the home side on their way to all three points, with Eden Hazard sealing the victory in the second half after providing the assist for Lampard's opener.
"It's special. It's obviously a landmark I've been getting towards," he told Sky Sports.
"I'm just pleased to get there and pleased it's an important goal for the team.
"I've been very fortunate to play for the club for a long time here with great players and players who put the ball on a plate sometimes for you like Hazard did there so I'm thankful.
"I think he's got the world at his feet and he can handle that pressure because he's that good."
Despite reaching the 200 goal milestone, Lampard was left frustrated at firing over the crossbar from close range, missing the opportunity to make it 201 strikes.
"I'm really annoyed, I won't sleep tonight," he added.
"I love scoring goals and I love being able to arrive in the box. I think I relaxed a bit on that one and skied it over the bar."
